Postpartum Depression

Postpartum or perinatal depression is more than the ‘Baby Blues’. When your body temporarily suppresses adrenaline and there is a sudden drop in estrogen levels prior to or after the birth of your baby, the onset of this depression can occur.

It is estimated that 10 - 15% of all mothers suffer or experience this type of depression.

Signs and Symptoms

“Baby blues” often go away in 1-2 weeks. However; with Postpartum Depression symptoms are more severe and persist for more than 2 weeks.
